Account Deletion Policy
Effective date: June 1, 2026
At Mela, we respect your right to control your personal data. You can request complete deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
1. How to Request Account Deletion
You can delete your account through any of these methods:
- In the app — Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account
- By email — Send a request to mela.supports@gmail.com from the email or phone number associated with your account
2. What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:
- Your profile information (name, phone number, email)
- Event browsing history and saved events
- RSVP and registration records
- Notification preferences and settings
- WhatsApp/Viber community membership preferences
3. What May Be Retained
Certain data may be retained for legal or operational reasons, even after account deletion:
- Transaction records — Ticket purchases and payment records are retained for up to 5 years as required by Korean tax law (National Tax Service regulations)
- Anonymized analytics — Aggregated, anonymized usage data that cannot be linked back to you
- Legal obligations — Any data required to comply with legal requests or government investigations
4. Processing Timeframe
Account deletion requests are processed within 30 days of receipt. During this period:
- Your account will be immediately deactivated
- You will no longer receive notifications
- Your data will be queued for permanent deletion from all our systems, including backups
If you change your mind within the 30-day window, contact us and we can restore your account.
5. Impact on Active Tickets
If you have upcoming event tickets at the time of deletion, please note:
- Active tickets for future events will still be honored — organizers retain a record of valid tickets
- Refund requests for unused tickets should be made before requesting account deletion
